In this episode, we discuss a route for aspiring entrepreneurs and some employees that were put on furloughs or laid off during the financial impact due to the Chinese Wuhan crisis (aka Corona virus covid-19). And with the crisis now disparate all over the country because of the uncertainty in some markets for the re-opening of the economy, the necessity-preneur or aspiring entrepreneur can look to a growth element during the crisis (which is Podcasting).
The route could be for a growing field that lends itself to favor working from home for a very low cost of entry. And with all the tutorials and courses available to teach a neophyte about how to create, publish, promote and succeed in podcasting, then an avenue may be available in the short term for another path of revenue streams (because the Economic Impact or stimulus payments cannot be relied upon to be steady and future income).
For this episode, I wanted to focus on releasing episodes for a podcast in order to generate revenue streams after creating a base of loyal fans in an audience of listeners — and then the small business owner could add video screencasting and training programs for revenue, as well.
In my own situation, I have gone down the road of becoming a full-time entrepreneur (both a solo-preneur and vetre-preneur) involved in both podcasting and other areas of social media and screencasting with tutorials and training programs. However, when I began, entrepreneurship and working from home was just starting to become accepted.
And now, due to the crisis, working at home seems to be a “normal” that we will have to adapt and accept in the near future (at least, until the economy may return).
And when I started in podcasting, I hired a podcast consultant (i.e., Dave Jackson of The School of Podcasting) to help me get off the ground and get into podcasting by going in the right direction and in the fastest way possible. And for other aspiring entrepreneurs who want to get into podcasting, I would recommend the same program — because I have had success, and because Dave has been podcasting for nearly 16 years continuously. So then, you can create and launch your own podcast show and start down the road of being a podcaster — with the intent of being a professional podcaster.
And as for myself, I later became a podcast consultant as well as a video/screencasting consultant for hire. After I created, edited and delivered podcast episodes (as well as video tutorials and training), I had to take some time off for personal and medical health reasons. And when I came back, I continued podcasting with my flagship podcast show (at the time, it was PodcastReporter.com), as well as this show and then even another show with a co-host called 2030Podcast.com — and then I proceeded to get involved with training videos for hire.
Now, after you have launched your podcast, what resources and programs would I suggest for you to grow your podcast and steer it toward success? I would recommend a membership site to which I belonged twice — it is called Podcasters Society by Daniel J Lewis of The Audacity to Podcast show. The objective you may want would be to take your podcast from “average” to “amazing” in a society that is really a “collaborative mentorship.”
In less than a year, you could be on the way to growing your podcast into an income-making system to create revenue streams for your entrepreneurship endeavor.
So, with these words of introduction, I will be increasing the focus of The Struggling Biz podcast show to incorporate podcasting as a means of generating revenue within your business — or especially if podcasting will BE your business. So I look forward to delivering more content along these lines for you, the audience
Thank you for your attention. Until next time, be safe and healthy.
