55- Entrepreneurs should protect a good mindset during the virus crisis

Struggling Biz

In this episode, we reflect on a recent podcast from Todd Henry in his show, The Accidental Creative podcast. The theme for this post is for entrepreneurs and creatives to protect their mindset during the virus crisis of the Chinese Wuhan virus, aka corona virus and covid-19. Now, this episode was recorded during the time when the lockdown was still in effect, and not all the states were opening up their economies and relaxing the mandates, etc.

As you will hear in this audio episode, Todd promotes the idea that there are two big lies during this pandemic era:

  • There is really no “new normal.” There is only the reality which can be embraced by the realists (not the over-optimistic optimists nor the pessimists).
  • The sameness or monotony caused by the stay-at-home orders by the govenors makes things appear to fit into the theme of “everything is subtraction” from your life. This is seen by the removal of opportunity for working or for building businesses with clients, etc. But this only can apply to the business that relies on travel, meeting in person with customers, etc.

But these lies can be addressed by taking the following perspective that an entrepreneur can have:

  • The subtraction from our lives during the pandemic mitigation orders by government can allow us to fill our lives with important times that we can experience with others (which we did not make time for before). In this case, more quality time with family and close friends within the confines of the social distancing can be a real plus. We should be grateful for the opportunity to share, to give and to experience the important elements of closeness and relationships with those whom we live. We always used to make excuses that we could not dedicate enough quality time to share with our family and intimate others.
  • The “new normal” is really a phrase that we, ourselves, do not believe. This is a meme that the lame-stream media is promoting to create the fear-mongering among the population for the sake of sensationalism and hype to allow the news to control your minds. And crises are not new — there have been crises in the past, and we have all gone through them and survived to flourish (whether it was ourselves, our parents or grandparents, or other generations). The limitations of this “new normal” meme can rob you of the finest characteristics which you can build during these difficult times. You should not let the lame-stream media control the way you think, and we see that many people in the USA are not letting the governments of the states determine how long it will be until the economies are open again.

It is important for us to maintain a good sense of hope, as well as setting small goals during the crisis. Consistent progress is important for our lives, and we shall see a sense of optimism and satisfaction and drive when we reach and surpass these goals. And also, self-education and self-training are projects that we can work on so that we can do self-improvement — it keeps us engaged and focused and energized. We can explore our creative side during these times of mandated isolation and quarantine.

So we suggest that you do listen to the podcast episode from Todd Henry titled “Protecting your mindset during this season.” In this way, you can bypass the lies that are being spread by the lame-stream media and we can become realistic optimists.

And we hope that your struggling business can live through these tough times and then flourish into a successful business as an entrepreneur or startup or small business.

Thank you for your attentiion.
