In this episode of The Struggling Biz, we focus on the celebration of a cherished anniversary for some entrepreneurs — that is, International Podcast Day (now in its 7th year). For many small business owners and startups and entrepreneurs, this could be a milestone for creating premium podcasts that generate revenue streams for their businesses. For other podcasters, however, it could just be an anniversary that may later spawn a startup or business to generate income and create revenue streams.
This could be highlighted by the announcement of availability of a book by Dave Jackson called Profit from your Podcast (which is an update from his previous book, More Podcast Money), which delivers the many ways for a podcaster to monetize a podcast show and episodes, and thus generate revenue as an entrepreneur — whether it is from a regular podcast or premium podcast.
Regardless of an entrepreneur’s point of view, this day is celebrated by the independent podcasters who wanted a level playing field in order to create and publish their messages to their audience outside of the gatekeepers of the lame-stream media. And since 2014, this celebration is marked with a full day of podcast presentations in different languages from all over the world. This has come a long way from its humble beginnings in 2014 as National Podcast Day, created by Steve and David Lee, as well as Daniel J Lewis of the Audacity to Podcast show.
Now, from an entrepreneur’s point of view, this celebration could be a milestone in creating new revenue streams for your business or the development and/or launch of a premium podcast show (which can add to the income by having listeners pay for such great content) — or even to the creation and launch of a podcast membership site (very much like the example set by Daniel J Lewis in his site called Podcasters Society). These are all ways to generate income for a business that could be owned by an entrepreneur and podcaster.
For this day during the celebration of International Podcast Day, many of the discussions will center around the theme of monetization of podcasts — that is, how to make money from your podcast show (which then can assume that you may be a startup or entrepreneur).
So, from the podcaster’s perspective, we deliver the audio episode from The Podcast Reporter show that discusses what this anniversary means for any type of podcaster:
We hope that perhaps you can create a premium podcast show with episodes that can create revenue streams for you. In that way, your business can grow with additional income, and then you can celebrate International Podcast Day as premium podcaster or a profitable podcaster.
Thank you for your attention.
