In this episode of The Struggling Biz, we discuss the theme of burnout when you have a small business or startup. As an Entrepreneur, we have to learn how to control and manage our enthusiasm — why?because just as it delivers positive results and strength and great energy, it can also lead to burnout, which will then lead to negative situations that can actually have you feel negatively to your business.
There is an article that delivers to us the threat of burnout in our creative world and business. It has charts from studies that have been done in the world of entrepreneurship. The theme is “Hybrid work anxiety is causing employee burnout.” And you can consider yourself, as an Entrepreneur, to be an employee of your business. The article and details are at the following URL:
And you can then learn about the role of anxiety and ambiguity in the road to burnout due to stress and other factors. You can also get an updated perspective on the future of remote work.
For myself as an entrepreneur, I had succumbed to great enthusiasm when it came to early periods of my business career as a startup in the area of business shows, conferences, marketing, education and training, online webinars and tutorials, as well as falling in line with the enthusiasm of other entrepreneurs.
However, this did lead several times to a serious burnout of my physical and mental and emotional strengths. I had to calm down and retire from my business for a very short time (when it was stress caused by my taking on too much in one area and neglecting other serious objectives of the business). At other times, it was the stress and the time commitment required when the cause was related to family and health emergencies. And I, myself, succumbed to medical operations and absence from the business. And this, indeed, did cause the hybrid anxiety and stress that is discussed and reviewed with the graphs from the link given about burnout.
Thus, I strongly encourage you to review the document given at the link to see in which groups you may fall into. And thus, you can understand if you have symptoms of possible oncoming burnout as an Entrepreneur in your business. If so, there are remedies of rest, relaxation, self-therapy and other types of care and control you can begin to exercise to reduce your stress and focus on what really counts in your business, instead of being overwhelmed and exhausted negatively.
In this way, you can then focus on recovery from your symptoms while putting together a plan to move toward the objectives of your business without the stress or by not spreading yourself too thin in your emotions, your time, your physical care or medical care, and your financial involvement.
Thank you for your attention.
