In this episode, we discuss the dangers to the small business or the entrepreneur in new media and podcasting of being “taken down” from the publishing site or being “de-platformed” from one of the video or audio environments just because of the content that does not agree with the political agenda of the owners — and by owners, we mean social media platforms such as YouTube or google or facebook, etc.
The cases in point are discussed as several examples in a recent podcast episode of the show 2030Podcast.com where myself and my co-host, Matt Cox (who is also a podcaster with his show, Brunch with the Brits) released an episode with the situations described.
As you can hear in the previous specified example audio episode, the mere mention of “Chinese Wuhan virus, aka Covid-19 or coronavirus” can lead to political sabotage of your content by the owners of the platform, who are obviously controlled by the lame-stream media and the Chinese government.
This form of censorship is becoming more common now, as such videos that explain and deconstruct facts are now being taken down (supposedly for violating the “community guidelines” of such platforms as YouTube). And the prior audio episode stated do discuss this example.
So, if you are a podcaster or new media content creator and your business relies upon perhaps the controversy or other discussions that invade the politics or the political agendas of the left (which controls the media and the platforms, such as facebook and google), then you, too, may face such dire consequences of being censored or taken down or being de-platformed without any warning.
And this can be a danger to your revenue streams, your planning, your strategies for income generation and follow-up — as well as for the future of your publication in the world of new media.
This podcast is but a warning to those content creators who make a living from new media publications, such as podcasts and videos and screencasts and blogs, etc.
We hope that you can be cognizant of these restrictions and avoid the trouble which we ran into by losing our entire audience and all our 407 episodes of our flagship podcast show because of this censorship.
Thank you for your attention.
