In this episode of The Struggling Biz, we discuss the possibilities that are presented with many corporate employees who are either near retirement age or are already corporate retirees — and they are grouped into 2 categories for resuming a productive and meaningful life: full-time recreation and enjoyment of offspring or become a startup or entrepreneur in starting a small business.
As you will hear in this audio episode, I describe my own situation when I myself took the retirement plunge from my 33 years in corporate America. I also tell about my brother retired at the end of 2020, but who does not yet have an exit strategy or plan for the future. And, of course, with his skills and background, there is always the possibility of being involved in a startup (as he had been midway through his career of 45 years in corporate business).
As you will hear in this audio episode, I first look at myself briefly for the thoughts that hit my environment when I left corporate America and went into full-time entrepreneurship.
Then I will look at my brother’s role and the situation he is presently contemplating with creating a startup or becoming involved with an entrepreneurship or small business.
And although these topics are presented in a stream-of-consciousness method of reflection, I feel that many of you today are in the same situation, as the virus crisis has hastened many of you in corporate America to consider taking the package of the downsizing or layoffs and then pursue another path in your lives.
I hope that these stories may relate to your situations — especially if you consider yourself to be approaching your twilight years. And I sincerely wish for you to make the best decisions for your future — especially if you choose to become an entrepreneur.
Thank you for your attention.
